Hora de Cuentos

Bilingual Storytime / Hora del Cuento Bilingüe

Finger Paint Winter Art - Toddlers

Thursday, December 12

Ages: 18 months - 3 years old and a caregiver
At this small group program, we will read a winter story, sing a few of our storytime songs, and then create process art with finger paints. All finger paints will be non-toxic and designed for children. Smocks will be provided, but families should still plan to wear clothes that can get messy.

Registration is required. Registration for our December special events starts November 15. Please choose one time, either 10:00 AM or 11:00 AM.

Preschool Winter Painting

Tuesday, December 10
2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Ages: 3-6 years old, caregivers welcome but not requiredAt this special December one-time event, we will read, sing, and dance while celebrating all the month of December has to offer. Participants can finger paint, use brushes, and create winter scenes or ornaments to take home. Caregivers can participate or drop-off, as long as they stay on library grounds. Please dress for mess!Registration is required. December special event registration opens November 15.

Santa & Mrs. Claus Visit the Library

Saturday, December 14

10:00 AM - 2:00 PM 

It's the most wonderful time of the year, and our friends Santa and Mrs. Claus are stopping by the library to greet children, hear Christmas lists, and take family photos. The wonderful couple are pros with children of all ages. Appointments are full at this time, but, Santa and Mrs. Claus never turn a child away, so drop-ins are welcome. Our annex room will feature LEGO, Duplo, coloring, music, and puzzles for families to enjoy while waiting their turn.

New Year’s Busy Bags

Take-Home Kit Activity
Register in advance - Pick up begins week of December 16
Ages: 2-10 years and families

Get ready for the New Year with our busy bag. This take-home activity kit comes with a countdown clock craft, less mess pom-pom celebration popper craft, and other developmentally appropriate activities to keep the family busy as we celebrate the New Year. Sign up in advance to reserve a craft kit.

Registration required. Please be sure to specify how many people will be participating and the age range(s) of each participating child when registering. You only need to sign up once per family.

Baby Bounce and Groove

Age range: Birth - 18 mo. and a caregiver

Last class for 2024 is November 19. This class will return in 2025.

Early literacy is an important part of a baby’s healthy development. We read, sing, babble, and bounce together. Learn resources to use at home and meet other caregivers. Ends with social play.

Toddlers in Training

Age range: 18-36 months & a caregiver

Interactive story time featuring puppets, instruments, and elements of music & movement. Program ends with play.

Family Hour: Playdoh Club

On a break
Wednesdays, 10:30 - 11:30 AM

Age range: Ages 2-5 years and a caregiver

Last class for 2024 is November 19. This class will return in 2025.

Welcome to family hour! During this hour long program, we will read a story and sing 1-2 songs. Then, join in for themed play-doh play with tools like cookie cutters, toddler scissors, and rolling pins. Play-doh is awesome for developing early skills kids need for school, like fine motor skills and finger strength. 

Caregivers welcome but not required to participate. However, caregivers must stay in the room with children under 3 years old and on the library grounds for all other ages for the entirety of the program.

Read and Play

Age range: Ages 3 - 5 years

Last class for 2024 is November 19. This class will return in 2025.

Our small group Kindergarten readiness program, focused on early literacy and math skills through a combination of hands-on activities and group story time. We'll also work on following directions and practicing classroom behaviors. Caregivers welcome, though not required to participate. Caregivers must remain on library grounds.

Quick FAQ

  • Registration is required or preferred for weekly programs.

 

  • Younger or older siblings are welcome to attend programs with their families as long as it is not disruptive. We ask that caregivers notify us in advance if siblings that will want to participate in program activities will be attending.

 

  • A caregiver is required to remain present in a program or on library grounds, depending on the program, when any child under 5 years old is participating in a library program.

  • Programs are always free to attend, thanks to generous donations from local community members.
