It includes your airways, lungs and blood vessels. The muscles that power your lungs are also part of the respiratory system. Each part of the respiratory system has many separate components. These include: mouth/nose, sinuses, pharynx, trachea, and bronchial tubes. In addition, the diaphragm and ribs move the air in and out of the lungs. Other components that work with the lungs and blood vessels include: alveoli, bronchioles, capillaries, lung lobes; pleura, cilia, epiglottis, and larynx. There are hundreds of different diseases and conditions – acute to chronic – that can affect the respiratory system, ranging from common cold and flu to pneumonia and COPD. Our wellness as individuals and as a community depends on continued sharing, support and conversation in times of celebration as well as in times of conflict. BOOK SEARCH: The Quest To Find The Oldest Book In Pawling

The Pawling Library is holding a Book Search contest as part of our Centennial Celebration. From November 2021 to March 2022 you have to find the oldest book. A winner will be chosen on Tuesday, April  5th and awarded a $50.00 gift certificate from the Book Cove. Hidden away in your attic, in a cabinet, box or chest, might be that literary treasure. Please bring your vintage books to our library so that we can make a note of the titles and dates of publication. We’ll also of course need your contact information. For a century the Pawling Library has been serving our community and will continue to do so in the years to come. Thank you for your patronage.
