Radio Updates

Did you know that you can learn about what’s happening at the library by listening to Pawling Public Radio? Every weekday at 9 AM and 1:30 PM, Pawling Public Radio broadcasts a short summary of upcoming events and other library news. The announcements are recorded once every two weeks, then repeated. So if you listen every day, you will definitely get a sense of deja vu. On the other hand, if you miss a broadcast, you will get plenty more opportunities to listen. You can, of course, also learn more about what’s happening at the library by clicking on the “Events Calendar” link at the top of the page.

Pick up the Pawling Record

The Pawling Library is a pickup location for Pawling’s free local newspaper, the Pawling Record. The current issue is the June 30th issue. This represents the second of three monthly issues published this summer. In the fall, the Pawling Record will be published weekly. Pick up the Pawling Record for information about what is happening at the library and elsewhere in the community. For more information about the paper or to access a digital version, visit them online at https://www.pawlingrecord.org/

Ebooks Just Got Easier

The Pawling Library has recently upgraded its account with Overdrive, our supplier of eBooks and downloadable audiobooks. If you haven’t used Overdrive before, there’s never been a better time to start. You can access our collection by visiting the Mid Hudson Overdrive website or by downloading the Overdrive app (available for Android, Apple, and Kindle devices). If you are already an Overdrive user, there are three changes you may have noticed to the way Overdrive works at the Pawling Library. Recommend If you have searched Overdrive recently, you may have already noticed that there is now a “Recommend to Library” feature”. For titles that are not currently part of our Overdrive collection, patrons now have the option of letting us know that they would be interested in us purchasing these titles. (Please note that eBooks generally cost the library at least three times as much as print books, so we are unable to purchase all titles recommended to us. Still, we would love to know what you are interested in, and do investigate every purchase...

Ladies and Gentlemen, Start Your Engines!

Registration for summer programs begins Tuesday June 13th. With it comes the opportunity to register for this year’s Reading Rally. For the second year in a row, the children, teens, and adults of Pawling will compete to see who can spend the most time reading over the course of the summer. Though registration begins on Tuesday June 12th, the competition doesn’t start until Monday June 26th. For more information and online registration links, visit http://www.pawlingfreelibrary.org/readingrally/

Red Popsicle

Popsicle Party

On Thursday June 15th the Pawling Library will host a popsicle party for the families of Pawling. This will be an opportunity for you to meet our new children’s program team, Neena McBaer and Martina Marchese. Feel free to drop by any time between 4 and 5 PM in order to meet Neena and Martina and to have a popsicle. We will also have crayons and Legos out for the children (and adults!) to use. If you are able to RSVP in advance (by emailing children@pawlinglibrary.org), it would help us figure out how many popsicles to buy. If you are not able to RSVP, please come anyway! If you have any questions about the children’s summer programs or about registration, Miss Neena will be on hand to answer them. Remember that registration for summer programs will take place June 13th through June 19th. Applications can be downloaded here or picked up at the library.

2017 Summer Interns

Calling All Summer Interns

The library’s new children’s program coordinator, Miss Neena, is busy planning programs for this summer. In order to make this summer a success, she is going to need help from some of our teen and tween library users. If you are between the ages of 12 and 18, you are welcome to apply to our summer internship program. Interns help out during the summer to make sure that everyone who participates in summer reading and activities has a wonderful and successful experience. If you are interested in becoming a summer intern, please fill out an internship application. You can download it here. Please bring completed applications to the library by Tuesday June 13th. If you have questions, you can email Neena at children@pawlinglibrary.org
