BOOK SEARCH: The Quest To Find The Oldest Book In Pawling

The Pawling Library is holding a Book Search contest as part of our Centennial Celebration. From November 2021 to March 2022 you have to find the oldest book. A winner will be chosen on Tuesday, April  5th and awarded a $50.00 gift certificate from the Book Cove. Hidden away in your attic, in a cabinet, box or chest, might be that literary treasure. Please bring your vintage books to our library so that we can make a note of the titles and dates of publication. We’ll also of course need your contact information. For a century the Pawling Library has been serving our community and will continue to do so in the years to come. Thank you for your patronage.

You’ll gain the guiding principles needed to organize your home, office, and life! For a period of 48-hours participants can watch at their leisure the pre-recorded portion of the program beginning on March 16th at 7 am. On Thursday, March 17th at 6 pm Shannon Honeycutt will appear live for a virtual demonstration and Q & A.

Laurie Berkner Valentine’s Concert

Sunday, 2/13, 12:00 PM & 5:00 PM All ages welcome, best for families with children six and under Laurie Berkner, Hudson Valley resident and mega-star of the children’s music scene is hosting an interactive Virtual Concert this Valentine’s Day. She’s been on Nickelodeon, toured the US, and written hits like “We are the Dinosaurs” and “I’m Gonna Catch You.” To help support at-home learning this winter, the Pawling Free Library will be providing a limited number of virtual concert tickets to local families. To reserve a ticket, click here.  You will need an internet connected device to stream the concert remotely. Only one ticket per family; one ticket includes access to both concert times for one device and should be enough for the whole family. Community Book Read: The Age of Innocence with Stephanie Rogers / Online Program

For this program we are not only commemorating our library’s anniversary but bringing people together through their passion for great literary works. We have selected four classic novels, one for each season, that were popular in the 1920s when our library first came into being. Our presenter, Stephanie Rogers, will be reading an excerpt from each novel and then lead a Q & A for our audience. Stephanie Rogers is the author of The Horse I Belong To: How a Misused and Almost Forgotten Grade Mare Showed Me the Way.
