At the start of the program, we’ll be watching a 20-minute TED TALKS video, entitled Your Elusive Creative Genius by Elizabeth Gilbert. Following the viewing, we’ll open up a group discussion led by Diane Ingram. Our wellness as individuals and as a community depends on continued sharing, support and conversation in times of celebration as well as in times of conflict. Meet Princess Belle!

The final event in the Mid-Hudson Library System Storytime Series this year will be our visit with Princess Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Meet the princess virtually on Thursday, 10/14, at 4:30 PM or watch on-demand, anytime. Princess Belle will read a story, sing songs, and talk about life in the castle. Plus, she will respond to children’s live comments by name! One lucky family who attends the live event will win a one-on-one video chat with Princess Belle herself. Thankgiving Week Hours

If you are not going over the river and through the woods this Thanksgiving, you might be interested in knowing when the Pawling Library will be open.  We will be reducing our schedule during Thanksgiving week, so that staff are able to spend time with their loved ones. We will close at 3 PM on Wednesday and then re-open at noon on Friday. Day by day, that means our hours are as follows: Monday: 12-5, Tuesday: 10-8, Wednesday: 10-3, Thursday: Closed, Friday: 12-5, Saturday: 10-4, Sunday: 12-4

Join our Fall Children’s Programs

The schedule for children’s programs for September – November is now available. Registration is also open now. This Fall, we’re offering in-person, digital, and take home kit programs for chlidren ages birth – elementary school. Join anytime–registration is rolling, but enrollment is first come, first served. The Great Give Back: Helping our Community

The Pawling library is partnering with our friends at the Pawling Resource Center who are in need of your help. They are especially in need of the products listed below. We are asking that you please donate whatever items you can to our library. The Great Give Back is a program that offers our patrons the opportunity to help people in their community. Donations will be accepted from Friday, October 1, until Friday, October 15. Items needed: Toiletries – shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss, deodorant Paper products – toilet paper, tissues, paper towels Baby diapers and wipes Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. Masks Highly Encouraged

Starting Wednesday June 23rd, the Pawling Library will be relaxing its safety restrictions. Fully vaccinated individuals may use their best judgment about whether to wear a mask, but masks are highly encouraged. All public computers are available for use, and we will be open for our normal hours of operation. Family Block Party: Celebrate the end of summer!

Summer programs have come to a close, so join us for our end of summer celebration! Wizard of Oz Family Block Party: Saturday, August 28th, 12:30 – 3:00 PM Lakeside Park: 2 Lakeside Drive Pawling, New York 12564 Join us under the Lakeside pavilion for a free event featuring bouncy castle, rainbow water play area, dunk tank, crafts, lawn games, snacks, and a prize raffle for major prizes like local gift cards, toys, and a Kindle Fire. There will be a Wizard of Oz themed costume contest, which all ages are welcome to join!  No registration is required, so stop by and play with us, even if only for a little while!
