End of Summer Celebrations!

We have entered the final week of summer children’s programs. To celebrate the end of a fantastic summer, we will be holding not one but TWO celebrations! Join Ms. Neena and Ms. Martina for the last two events of the summer–The End of Summer Carnival and The Solar Eclipse Picnic. End of Summer Carnival: (Sunday, August 20th, 1-3 pm): All summer, the teens and families of Pawling have been working hard with Kate and Martina to create a family friendly carnival. Come celebrate the end of the summer with a celebration the whole library is in on! We will also have tons of prizes and snacks for all to enjoy. Solar Eclipse Picnic: (Monday, August 21st, 1-4 pm): The Great American Solar Eclipse is August 21st. Join us for our viewing event and some fun suitable for all ages. While we observe the phases of the eclipse, we’ll make our own Solar Eclipse book to take home. A variety of snacks and free solar eclipse viewing glasses will be provided to all registered event attendees. Remaining glasses and snacks will be...

Laptop

Laptop Available for Checkout

The Pawling Library now offers one laptop available for checkout within the library. This laptop can be used anywhere within the building for up to four hours. This is a great option for someone who wants to do some uninterrupted work a little farther away from the hustle and bustle of the circulation desk and public desktop computers. The laptop runs Windows 10 and is equipped with with Microsoft Office 2013, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Adobe Acrobat. It also uses the same software as the desktop computers to wipe out any information added or changed, as long as you restart the computer at the end of your session. For more information or to see the laptop checkout agreement, please ask at the circulation desk.

Radio Updates

Did you know that you can learn about what’s happening at the library by listening to Pawling Public Radio? Every weekday at 9 AM and 1:30 PM, Pawling Public Radio broadcasts a short summary of upcoming events and other library news. The announcements are recorded once every two weeks, then repeated. So if you listen every day, you will definitely get a sense of deja vu. On the other hand, if you miss a broadcast, you will get plenty more opportunities to listen. You can, of course, also learn more about what’s happening at the library by clicking on the “Events Calendar” link at the top of the page.

Pick up the Pawling Record

The Pawling Library is a pickup location for Pawling’s free local newspaper, the Pawling Record. The current issue is the June 30th issue. This represents the second of three monthly issues published this summer. In the fall, the Pawling Record will be published weekly. Pick up the Pawling Record for information about what is happening at the library and elsewhere in the community. For more information about the paper or to access a digital version, visit them online at https://www.pawlingrecord.org/
