Registration is now open for our Winter 2021 children’s programs. The program session will run nine weeks, January 26th – March 26th. This session, we’ll be offering a variety of At-home kit activities and live digital programs on Zoom. Upcoming special events include a taste-safe sensory exploration kit for ages six months to five years and the return of our LEGO and Roblox Clubs. This program has been rescheduled for December 12, 2020, due to inclement weather. December 5th, 2020, by reservation only Get ready to bundle up and share your wish lists! Our annual visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus is ON! But… it is going to look a little different this year. To keep all involved as safe as possible, families will visit outside, one at time, while Santa and Mrs. Claus stay inside and chat through a window. Registration for 10 minute windows is required. The children’s department is hoping to refocus our energy on providing the types of programming and materials that your family will not just use, but will love! With over 200 votes cast in the races for President of the Children’s and YA books the winner is clear. Willy Wonka has won both offices! Congratulations to Julian, Grade 5, winning the top prize with his nomination of Mr. Wonka for children’s section president and the best campaign slogan “Book are as scrumptious as sweet chocolate.” Congratulations to Joslyn, Grade 9, for winning top prize for the YA section president. Her Willy Wonka platform narrowly won in a race against Hermione Granger. Thank you from all of us for your participation whether you put forth a candidate or participated in the vote! Voting has begun for our President of the Library Books competition. Young patrons have submitted their fictional nominees and now the community will decide which ones will serve as the President of the Children’s Section and the adjacent office of President of the YA section. Story Time Bites are short videos featuring one song, rhyme, or story, designed to help develop early literacy skills from home. These videos teach caregivers and children new rhymes to do offline at home, in the car, or at the playground. Plus kids love these digital visits from Ms. Neena!
