The organs of the immune system include the skin and mucous membranes, and the lymphatic system. Your skin and mucous membranes act as a physical barrier and are the first line of defense against pathogens entering from outside the body. The primary lymphatic system is composed of bone marrow and the thymus; Secondary are the lymph nodes, spleen, tonsils, and certain tissues in various mucous membrane layers in the body such as in the bowel. Body System Disorders: The Endocrine System- A Whole Body Approach to Treatment / Online Program

These glands secrete a variety of hormones, which travel to specific target organs via the bloodstream, and have specific functions such as regulating growth, metabolism, temperature, and reproductive development. Like the nervous system, the endocrine system acts as a signaling pathway, although hormones are slower acting than nerve impulses. Endocrine signals can last from a few hours to a few weeks. The main control center for the organs in the endocrine system is the brain’s hypothalamus. Endocrine disorders, which include diabetes, hypoglycemia, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, Cushing’s Disease, adrenal fatigue – among others – are typically grouped into two categories: *Endocrine disorders that result when a gland produces too much or too little of an endocrine...

In this talk, Bill will focus on the biography of Albert Einstein and will suggest that Einstein’s capacity for childhood wonder is available to us, too. About our presenter: William Crain is professor emeritus of psychology at The City College of New York. His writings include the book, Reclaiming Childhood: Letting Children Be Children in Our Achievement-Oriented Society. With his wife Ellen, Bill founded Safe Haven Farm Sanctuary in Poughquag, which gives a lifelong home to farm animals rescued from slaughter. Bill and Ellen have three grown children and six grandchildren.
